It wasn’t long ago I could hear a variety of prairie birds’ singing when I ventured out to a prairie. Lately I noticed… silence.
I learned that we actually lost over 50% of prairie birds (720 million) since 1970. In fact, we lost 3 billion birds since 1970 (https://www.3billionbirds.org/findings).
If you feel you haven’t seen many birds these days, it is because we did lose so many of them. Out of all, prairie birds are at the highest decline.
